Metal Heart

I’ve been friends with Duda and Pri for more than an year now. We don’t see each other very often but every single time we have the chance to be together is so much fun! A little while ago we were having dinner and I told them I was having a great time photographing and asked if they’d like to have some pictures taken (good experience for me + free pictures for them) and they were all excited about it. Yesterday was the very first sunny day we had after 28 days of rainy days so we went out downtown and improvised a bit. I asked my friend Ana to join us (she just got a Canon SLR) and to be quite honest, I think she kicked my ass BIG TIME… her photos are awesome and I’m so happy that she has discovered a hidden talent. Hopefully she will post some of her shots soon so please do not forget to pay her a visit when you have the chance.

We see what we want to see…

A few days ago I was really upset because I was having a conversation with someone and we just couldn’t see each other’s point of view. Instead of leaving it alone I started getting angry (really angry) and tried to push my view down her throat and vice-versa, and as you can guess, the end of the conversation was not friendly at all.

Maybe we only see what we want to see.

I see a huge pug in the sky. What about you… what do you want to see?

When it matters…

Today I was surprised (and what a fucking lovely surprise!) by my dear friend Catherine with this wonderful “thank you” picture posted on her Flickr photostream. Catherine is a very talented canadian designer and her photographic work never cease to amaze me. I’m very proud to say that I’m a huge fan of her work so when I found out that she actually took the time to create something as a way to thank me for the CD I was literally bouncing off the walls… really flattering! She told me that these shots were taken as she was listening to the CD for the very first time which makes it even more special. Catherine: I’ll love you forever for this.

A little while ago a really nice guy named Gustavo also sent me a very touching email saying that my CD was just the perfect push he needed to make the decision of become a photographer and let me tell ya, he’s been doing great and I’m sure you’ll be hearing a lot from him… Here’s his note (sorry, I’m way too tired to translate the whole thing… but you got the idea by what I had just written):

“Serj: A tua musica teve uma grande influencia na minha decisão de fazer o curso de fotografia… Sempre curti muito fotografia, e no meio do ano passado terminei minha faculdade, faziam 6 meses que havia casado e estava quebrado de grana. Eu queria muito fazer o curso, minha esposa me apoiava, mas o medo de “jogar dinheiro fora” com o curso e equipamentos não me deixava fazer. Um pouco a ntes comprei com vc o Liquid Peace of Me. E uns dias antes de fazer minha matricula, escutando o CD, uma frase da musica Time to Heal grudou na minha mente e assim ela se mantem até hoje ”Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.”

Dani is another friend who’s very special and will always be in my heart. She keeps teaching me about how to become a good photographer and a better person every single day and I could never thank her enough for that. Here’s what she did for me:

Gestures like these are just the best adrenaline rush (Jellyfish refers to it as “my sugar trampoline”) I could ever wish for and they make all my hard work totally worth. Thanks guys… you make a difference.

Babylens

After a month of waiting my Babylens has finally arrived! It’s such a different animal compared to the “regular” Canon lenses… hard to be tamed too! I got the composer, which is really cool and these are some of my first shots with it, featuring PQ and his new haircut!

Huge influence

This is the book that had influenced my life the most and the way I see the world has completely changed after reading it. It was presented to me by and old GIT friend, Wendy Levin, and I could never thank her enough for that.

Liquid Piece of Me was heavily influenced by it and if I’m not wrong I’ve probably read it 16 times already.
